DAVID ORD KERR

David Ord Kerr was born in 1951 in England and was educated at Hertford Grammar School, where he concentrated on zoology, botany and painting. As a young man, he worked for a period as a gamekeeper and then at a small private zoo in order to study animals and birds more closely.

He eventually adopted painting as a fulltime career. In 1978 he was a member of the Wallace Expedition to the Amazon, working as the expedition artist. Returning to England, he studied at the Hertford College of Art and Design, and subsequently at the Royal Academy of Art, on a threeyear degree course. David Ord Kerr won both the anatomy drawing prizes from the Royal Academy and the Royal College of Surgeons in his final year of school, as well as the Royal Academy Landscape Painting Prize.

He lives near Norwich, Norfolk, England, but travels extensively in his collection of background and reference material which is essential for his work. His exhibitions in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Sweden and South Africa have brought him acclaim as an international artist of high repute.
